Abstract
L’« Institut pour le travail et la santé mentale » d’Oakland en Californie travaille avec les syndicats de la région de San Francisco depuis 1977 sur les problèmes psychiques des membres des syndicats, en particulier sur le stress. L’Institut poursuit principalement un objectif de prévention : on vise à enrayer le stress au travail en en reliant systématiquement les causes à l’organisation du travail et en favorisant une mobilisation collective pour la changer. Ce sont les délégués syndicaux eux-mêmes qui deviennent les promoteurs et les animateurs des groupes sur le stress au travail.
