Abstract
Le Quartier Nord et le Botanique, deux quartiers populaires de Bruxelles, ont fait l’objet au cours des dix dernières années de projets de rénovation dont les conséquences sociales étaient l’expulsion de la population résidante. Des comités de lutte se sont donc constitués avec l’appui de travailleurs sociaux pour faire échec à ces projets. Dans le premier cas, il n’a pas été possible de contrer la transformation de l’espace urbain; par contre dans le second cas, et grâce en partie aux enseignements de la lutte au Quartier Nord, il n’a pas été possible aux promoteurs de réaliser leur projet. La Municipalité a appuyé les habitants et un projet de réhabilitation du quartier partiellement contrôlé par le Comité de lutte a remplacé les plans de rénovation-démolition initiaux. Des réflexions méthodologiques relatives à la mobilisation de la population concluent l’article.
