Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Abstract An innovative experimental setup was designed to investigate the cathodic protection (CP) penetration into coating disbondment. The setup employed embedded detection probes underneath the disbondment to enable pH and steel potential measurements without disturbing the environment inside the disbondment. It was revealed that the pH of the solution inside the disbondment tended to achieve a steady value at a given CP potential and increased with CP potential level regardless of coating type. The CP current was predominantly generated at the coating holiday and the penetration of CP current into coating disbondment was limited. The high pH environment inside the disbondment was mainly due to migration of OH- ions from the holiday into the disbondment. The protection of pipe steel inside the disbondment was attributed to the high pH environment generated by CP rather than CP current penetration. The calcareous deposit formed on top of the holiday was resistive to CP current, and acted as a physical barrier to OH- ion transfer. The high pH environment could be retained without the application of CP for an extended period of time, i.e., several months.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
