Abstract
L’auteur est professeur d’audiologie. Il intervient, en collaboration avec les syndicats, sur les problèmes du bruit industriel. Les travailleurs eux-mêmes participent à la réalisation des programmes d’examens auditifs. Ils sont ainsi amenés à démystifier les outils de mesure, le pouvoir des professionnels; ils gardent l’initiative de l’action, sont impliqués à toutes les étapes de la démarche de recherche, évitant ainsi le morcellement de l’approche épidémiologique généralement utilisée par les médecins d’entreprise. Une réforme des services de santé au travail est en cours actuellement au Québec. Dans ce contexte on assiste à une bureaucratisation du processus de revendication des travailleurs car leurs demandes doivent désormais se situer à l’intérieur des programmes de santé développés en fonction des priorités gouvernementales. Les travailleurs sont davantage des consommateurs de services définis par des professionnels que des agents responsables de l’assainissement de leur environnement de travail. La recherche-action vise à inverser ce processus.
