Abstract

We consider projects of using landfill gas for power generation purposes that are implemented in the United States and Canada. It is shown that steam production based on landfill gas is the most promising option in many cases. Gas is collected using vertical wells located onsite the landfills and then delivered through the high-density plastic pipelines to the CHP for heating and technological needs. An important advantage of using landfill gas for energy purposes is reduction of anthropogenic emissions of methane polluting atmosphere.
