Abstract
Since the introduction of legislation facilitating the issuance of covered bonds by Australian deposit-taking institutions in October 2011, Australia's five largest banks have established global covered bond programs and issued approximately $28 billion of covered bonds. This article compares Australia's covered bonds legislative regime to recent legislative developments in Canada, New Zealand and Singapore.
