Abstract
Ce texte est une chronique rapide des actions menées par un comité bruxellois qui veut rendre la ville aux piétons et aux cyclistes. Né en 1972, le C.A.T.U. a entrepris diverses démarches de sensibilisation par le moyen d’un mensuel, d’un montage audiovisuel, d’une randonnée cycliste à travers Bruxelles rassemblant plus de 2,000 usagers, etc. Le C.A.T.U. sert de coordonnateur entre les formations syndicales, des comités de quartier, des partis progressistes, des mouvements de jeunes. Il s’est opposé en 1978 à une augmentation des tarifs des Transports urbains. Certains groupements se réclamant de la « nouvelle gauche » pratiquèrent des auto-réductions dans les bus, les trams, le métro. En 1980, nouvelle augmentation, nouvelle opération « Train gratuit » en Wallonie et dans certaines gares de Bruxelles.
