Ao considerar que o acontecimento não é apenas da ordem do que ocorre, mas de como ele se torna, o artigo se volta para a relação que partilhar a experiência e dar a conhecer denotam. O presente texto analisa os livros Palestinos, os novos judeus (1977) e Entre árabes e judeus: uma reportagem de vida (1991), da jornalista Helena Salem, do Jornal do Brasil à época da Guerra do Yom Kippur. Com apoio em uma leitura da narrativa, o artigo considera os livros como espaço de reflexão sobre a prática e o saber jornalísticos, de elaboração da crítica, de formulação da experiência e de fixação da memória.
