Le caravaning à plein temps, mode de vie choisi par plusieurs millions de Nord-Américains, est-il une forme de tourisme résidentiel ? C’est à cette question que cet article tente de répondre en analysant le concept même de tourisme résidentiel et les concepts avoisinants pour saisir si le caravaning à plein temps présente des points communs avec ceux-ci. Les destinations choisies par les caravaniers, en été comme en hiver, sont-elles liées au tourisme ? Le temps de résidence passé dans ces destinations a-t-il une influence sur la conception qu’ils se font de leur statut de touriste, de migrant ou de résident ? En concentrant mon analyse sur un certain type de caravaniers à plein temps, ceux qui élisent domicile pour plusieurs mois à un même endroit, il sera possible de démontrer que ce mode de vie se distingue à maints égards de ceux généralement liés au tourisme résidentiel ou à la migration de style de vie.
