Apres qu’ait ete defini un reseau de transport electrique avec des points de mise a la masse bien precis, on sait que les differents chemins suivis par les courants induits par les orages geomagnetiques dependent des pro- prietes electriques de chaque reseau. Ainsi, l’etude de l’impact que peut avoir un orage geomagnetique sur un ensemble de plusieurs reseaux touche a des disciplines aussi diverses que la geophysique, la phy- sique solaire, les liaisons soleil-terre et l’ingenierie de la puissance electrique. C’est ce que tend a montrer la description de la grande panne de distribution elec- trique qui plongea le Quebec dans le noir et dans le froid la nuit du 13 mars 1989.
