A obra é um registro da história do basquetebol feminino nos Jogos Olímpicos, que teve início em Montreal, em 1976, 40 anos depois da inclusão do basquetebol no programa oficial dos Jogos, hoje esporte que atrai tanto a presença nos ginásios quanto é responsável pelo alto índice de audiência na TV. O autor concede especial atenção ao basquete brasileiro, ressaltando as conquistas de medalhas dos atletas e o trabalho incansável das equipes, técnicos e árbitros ao longo desses 40 anos de participação.
