Abstract
Certains films semblent aller à la source de la lumière afin d’inventer un langage, mais aussi, une fantasmagorie chromatique. Les modes d’apparition de la lumière au cinéma deviennent d’autant plus importants qu’ils entraînent toujours un métalangage, le cinéma étant, par excellence, un art de la lumière. Ce texte étudie le film Au clair de la lune (1982) du cinéaste québécois André Forcier, qui recycle un imaginaire nordique au profit d’une mise en scène de la lumière où viennent s’abolir les distinctions entre le monde des morts et celui des vivants. La « survivance » en devient un thème de prédilection, bien que joué sur un mode fantasmagorique et carnavalisé. Forcier offre une lecture du colon colonisé où la nordicité et l’invention de la lumière se mêlent au spectacle de foire.
