Dans le contexte québécois, le développement entrepreneurial a été mis en avant en tant que stratégie en vue de favoriser l’autonomisation économique des femmes. Cependant, l’entrepreneuriat féminin est un objet de réflexion qui demeure encore sous-exploré, particulièrement en milieu autochtone. Reconnaissant l’importance du contexte dans le développement entrepreneurial et dans l’accès aux ressources et considérant que les Autochtones appartiennent à des communautés diverses issues de milieux, de territoires et de cultures différenciés, les auteures estiment que le manque d’études spécifiques et contextualisées représente une lacune sérieuse. Les auteures ont comme objectif d’analyser et de reconnaître, dans une perspective critique, les impacts du contexte patriarcal et colonialiste ainsi que les enjeux propres aux entrepreneures autochtones. Dans cette perspective, la réflexion apportée permet de dégager des constats relatifs aux obstacles rencontrés par les entrepreneures et pose un regard sur les mesures de soutien qui leur sont offertes. En somme, non seulement les auteures remettent en question les mesures existantes, mais elles poussent leur réflexion en formulant des propositions qui permettront l’élaboration de stratégies novatrices et mobilisatrices, et qui répondront aux besoins émergeant du contexte particulier dans lequel les femmes autochtones développent leur entreprise.
