Abstract

Au Québec les dernières décennies ont vu la continuité d’une écoute des besoins religieux et spirituels des patients touchés par l’institution de soin, mais également une transformation de la réponse institutionnelle. On passe d’un modèle sacral et rituel à un modèle conversationnel inscrit dans les paramètres psychosociaux de l’institution biomédicale soucieuse de respecter la liberté de conscience. Cet article se propose de décrire et problématiser ce déplacement de perspective. L’institution de soin au Québec comme ailleurs en Amérique du Nord et en Occident, explore activement une dimension de son action qu’elle peine à définir tout en reconnaissant qu’il y a là quelque chose d’incontournable dans sa mission de soigner et de guérir.
