Abstract
In October 2007,10 Canadian ceramic artists arrived in China, weary from a long trip, but amazed by the scale of their final destination - Fuping Pottery Art Village, in Shaanxi province - seems more like a world than a village. Several finished museums stand solidly in place, some designed with kiln shapes in mind, and representing France, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand and the U S ; many more are underway for other countries. In fact, the Canadian museum was still being constructed during the artists' month-long residency. For both sets of builders, there was a mad dash to finish by the museum's grand opening in November 2007.
