Abstract
Bioaerosols have an impact on human health. Indoor and outdoor sources of bioaerosols are numerous and can derive from essential human activities such as farming and composting. Seasonal changes are also linked with modulation of airborne biological agents that have a significant impact on human health (e.g., pollens and spores) and means of monitoring and evaluating their impact is currently evolving. Airborne agents can also derive from criminal activities intended to harm, as is the case for bioterrorism. In this chapter we describe the main agents found in bioaerosols along with the nature of their impact on human health. We also briefly cover the monitoring strategies for bioaerosols along with documented exposure limit values.
