Abstract
Michel Bock présente un « exemple de groulxisme appliqué ». Dans cet article, qui brosse le portrait de la première moitié de l’histoire de l’Association de la jeunesse franco-ontarienne (Ajfo), un organisme fondé par l’Association canadienne-française d’éducation de l’Ontario (Acféo) et qui vécut de 1949 à 1972, Bock montre que l’Ajfo logeait bien à l’enseigne du « groulxisme », ses activités et sa « conception de l’identité des Franco-Ontariens s’inscrivant sans ambages dans le grand projet national du Canada français ». Traditionaliste, elle avait reçu le mandat de former les futurs dirigeants de la nation canadienne-française en Ontario et se considérait, par conséquent, comme une véritable école de « chefs ». La formule qu’elle privilégiait était celle de l’étude nationale et religieuse, formule austère qu’elle eut parfois beaucoup de difficulté à imposer à ses membres. L’Ajfo déploya de nombreux efforts pour rassembler la jeunesse de tout l’Ontario français, voire du Canada français, conformément à une conception organique et culturelle de la nation.
