O presente artigo apresenta os conceitos de habitus imigrante e capital de mobilidade, derivados da Teoria da Prática proposta por Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002), como ferramentas para compreender as estratégias de agentes em processos migratórios. Em seguida à revisão e discussão sobre a origem e os fundamentos teóricometodológicos dos conceitos de habitus e capital, aplicamos os conceitos propostos em duas pesquisas recentes: os brasileiros no Québec e os haitianos no Brasil. Através da análise de depoimentos e das estratégias dos migrantes em questão, verificamos em que medida os projetos migratórios são frutos de um sistema de disposições, o habitus imigrante, e como ele se transforma em um conjunto de propriedades específicas, aqui denominado de capital de mobilidade. Em conclusão, estabelecemos que a decisão voluntária de migrar e os processos de integração estão interligados e dependem da força do habitus interiorizado e da quantidade de capital acumulado.
