Abstract
La pêche à l’anguille se faisait bien avant l’arrivée des Européens sur notre continent. Elle s’est pratiquée avec succès partout le long du Saint-Laurent pendant des siècles. Elle faisait partie du paysage côtier autant que du mode de vie saisonnier des pêcheurs et de leur communauté. Quelques-uns font encore la pêche à l’anguille au Kamouraska et perpétuent avec passion une tradition familiale transmise par l’oralité et l’observation du geste. Ces pêcheurs nous ont communiqué leurs savoirs et savoir-faire et ont démystifié la capture de ce poisson d’exception. La technique et les engins de pêche, l’historique de cette pratique et la problématique de ce patrimoine fragilisé font l’objet de cet article.
