Abstract
<p>O romance <em>Um defeito de cor,</em> publicado em 2006 por Ana Maria Gonçalves, pode ser considerado um acontecimento no cenário da produção literária contemporânea brasileira. Além de se destacar por seu fôlego e pela matéria da qual se propõe a ser uma reelaboração, a saber, o nosso ainda traumático passado escravista, o livro tem um foco narrativo inédito em nossas letras: uma escrava ou, se consideramos a condição da narradora ao final de sua vida, quando dita relato, uma liberta. A constituição desse texto literário se realiza como contraponto à, reconhecida e declarada, obliteração da história do povo negro no país. Nesse sentido, o romance estabelece intrínseca relação com a disciplina História e a ela faz uma provocação. O presente trabalho pretende compartilhar algo da investigação acerca do modo como são criadas correspondências entre a forma do romance e um discurso histórico. No mesmo contínuo, procuraremos sinalizar os aspectos passíveis de ocupar o campo do literário e que compõem os esforços dos pesquisadores da história social empenhados em elaborar narrativas comprometidas com as perspectivas dos negros em relação ao nosso século XVIII e XIX. Ancorados nessa trama complexa, delinearemos um movimento presente no qual as oposições “ficção e realidade” e “ficção e história” voltam a interpelar da crítica literária uma revisitação e ressignificação de seus critérios.</p><p> </p>
