Abstract
administered in the first hour in 64% of the pre-implementation group and 73% of the post-implementation group. Bronchodilator delivery time improved from a median of 42 minutes in the control group to 29 minutes in the CP group (p < 0.05). No significant difference in the rate of corticosteroid administration in the first hour was observed between groups overall. However, provision of oral corticosteroids to patients with MMSE improved from 82% in the control group to 91% in the CP group. A clinical pathway for emergency treatment of pediatric asthma decreased the rate of hospitalization with no increased return rate to emergency through two weeks after discharge from the emergency department.
