El rescate de una necrópolis tardía en el sector noroeste del perímetro urbano de la ciudad de Guayaquil, ha permitido conocer la persistencia y recurrencia de varios sistemas de sepultura, vigentes por centurias en las sociedades aborígenes. Los ajuares que acompañaron a gran parte de los individuos de la sociedad Chono (Milagro – Quevedo) sepultados en esta necrópolis, demuestran que no existió una diferenciación social acentuada en este sector de la cuenca baja del río Guayas.
