Abstract
En notre époque de mondialisation triomphante, la question des spécificités nationales est-elle encore d’actualité ? Dans une perspective véritablement sociale, l’étonnant phénomène identitaire de la francophonie canadienne rappelle la nécessité de considérer le milieu culturel original tout autant, sinon davantage, que la stricte économie politique. Ce patrimoine résulte d’une succession de contextes historiques et ne saurait être compris qu’en reconnaissant le rôle des usagers : au Canada, ces derniers se divisent depuis longtemps en deux principales communautés linguistiques, pour ne pas dire deux entités nationales distinctes, qui arrivent à des niveaux forts différents quant à la constitution de l’identité collective au moyen des médias de masse.
