Abstract
No mundo atual ocidental, com relação às mulheres, há uma cobrança quanto ao “corpo perfeito”, cobrança esta induzida pelo capitalismo que incentiva cada vez mais a prática do consumismo “desenfreado”, reduzindo o corpo humano a apenas um objeto. Por outro lado, com relação algumas religiões cristãs mais tradicionais, há o entendimento de que a intervenção do corpo feminino às intervenções estéticas contribui para um cultivo do prazer próprio que leva ao pecado, causando “promiscuidade ou uma vulgarização do visual naquelas que beatificam a luxúria”. Nesse contexto, trata-se o presente artigo científico de uma Revisão de Literatura, cujo objetivo principal é apresentar o posicionamento contemporâneo da religião cristã pentecostal, representada pela Igreja Assembleia de Deus, acerca da exposição do corpo feminino às intervenções estéticos. Definiu-se a pesquisa como exploratória, segundo os objetivos; bibliográfica, quanto aos procedimentos; e descritivo de cunho qualitativo, no que tange à abordagem do problema..
