A família, como núcleo dinâmico e ao mesmo tempo a mais constante unidade de saúde, tem papel fundamental para acompanhar os processos de saúde-doença. O genograma e o ecomapa podem subsidiar a enfermagem numa prática avançada no cuidado, pensando e agindo com e para a família. Visou-se, nesse estudo identificar e analisar a representação estrutural de uma família a partir do genograma e ecomapa no cuidado cotidiano do sequelado de Acidente Vascular Cerebral. Utilizou-se a técnica de entrevista semiestruturada, a partir da proposta de avaliação estrutural do Modelo Calgary de Avaliação da Família. Os resultados mostram que o genograma e o ecomapa apresentaram pistas para a intervenção de enfermagem na saúde pública, como um instrumento para auxiliar os membros da família a compreender a importância das relações internas e externas, e a explorar as mesmas, em benefício do paciente.
