Abstract
INTRODUÇÃO: a esperança média de vida está aumentando, tornando o envelhecimento populacional uma realidade.Porém, o envelhecimento não é sinónimo de melhor qualidade de vida, e a nutrição é um fator que pode contribuir de forma positiva para melhoria da saúde destes indivíduos.OBJETIVOS: identificar os impactos causados pelas alterações fisiológicas dos idosos, sob a ingestão alimentar.MÉTODOS: este trabalho utilizou como metodologia a Revisão Integrada da Literatura.A busca ocorreu nos periódicos online registrados nas bases Lilacs, Scielo, Medline e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, no período de 2012 a 2016.RESULTADOS: os idosos brasileiros passaram a ter uma alimentação mais baseada em alimentos calóricos, aumentando a incidência de obesidade e doenças crônicas nesta população.Observou-se que existe uma correlação significativa entre os hábitos alimentares dos idosos e dados antropométricos desta população, um indicativo de que a composição corpórea saudável dos idosos depende dos hábitos alimentares.CONCLUSÃO: é importante destacar a atuação do profissional nutricionista na prevenção e manutenção do estado nutricional adequado do idoso, visto que ao envelhecer há uma maior probabilidade de desenvolvimento de doenças crônicas.
