Abstract
Les enseignements artistiques et culturels oscillent entre subjectivité et normativité. Au Québec, l’idée que l’art favorise l’expression des élèves apparaît dans tous les documents pédagogiques. Cette évidence est issue de théories éducatives et de théories artistiques apparues au XXe siècle. L’analyse d’un programme d’art au primaire en montre les conséquences pédagogiques : une grande importance accordée à l’authenticité ainsi qu’au développement graphique, mais un élève qui n’est pas cultivé. Afin de développer une approche culturelle des arts, nous proposons une logique d’apprentissage à partir des concepts d’intention artistique et de posture d’auteur. Finalement, en opposition à la culture de l’expression, il s’agit de réfléchir à une culture de la participation.
