Abstract
La question du changement d’échelle en histoire autochtone entraîne, par conséquent, des interrogations sur la définition de son sujet d’étude, soit l’autochtonicité. En retournant à l’ouvrage classique The Fourth World de George Manuel et Michael Posluns, cet article propose de réfléchir sur les méthodes d’étudier l’histoire autochtone à l’échelle mondiale. Le « Quatrième Monde », concept mis de l’avant par Manuel, permet de réfléchir sur deux façons d’aborder cette histoire, à la fois comme un projet politique global et comme une réalité partagée par divers peuples répartis sur les cinq continents.
