Abstract
Depuis une dizaine d’années, les études concernant la Nouvelle-France ont été enrichies grâce aux manuscrits linguistiques — textes, grammaires, dictionnaires — qui décrivent les langues autochtones. Si ces sources ont commencé à être utilisées à la fin du XXe siècle, elles restent toutefois encore marginales comparées aux relations de voyage et aux Relations des jésuites. Pourtant, les documents linguistiques permettent de révolutionner les perspectives de recherches concernant les Premières nations et leurs contacts avec les Européens.
