Abstract
L’article entend dresser une cartographie psychologique de l’homo curialis dans la première moitié du xvii e siècle. Contrainte, perfection, distinction, tels sont ici les principaux lieux d’une carte qui n’a rien de définitif. Les traités de cour sont animés par un idéal magnanime du moi courtisan dépeint sous les couleurs du mythe ou du christianisme (Platon, angélisme). Cet idéal correspond à un moment particulier dans l’histoire de la noblesse française. Il correspond à un stade de la civilité, qu’on pourrait rapprocher des stades d’organisation de la libido. Ainsi un moment de l’histoire psychique de l’homme de cour s’apparente à cette instance de la personnalité individuelle que Freud nomme l’idéal du moi.
