Improving the gain and directivity of CPW antenna by using a novel AMC surface

Abstract
In this paper, a novel Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) for 5G applications at 30 GHz is proposed. This structure is integrated with a CPW antenna as a reflector to improve the gain and directivity at mm-wave bands. The proposed antenna design exhibits a bandwidth from 24.3GHz to 41.4 GHz with a good matching, which includes a wide range of the required band for 5G wireless networks. An overall gain enhancement of about 4 dB is achieved.
