Abstract
Au moment où la France engage une nouvelle réforme territoriale, cet article examine les effets induits par le renforcement de la coopération intercommunale à partir des processus à l’oeuvre dans le domaine sportif. L’analyse, prenant appui sur plusieurs résultats d’études, est centrée sur les acteurs et sur l’usage que ceux-ci peuvent faire de ces changements d’échelle. Il est question d’étudier les modes d’organisation sportive auxquels les changements renvoient. En ce sens, si ces « territoires de projet » que doivent incarner les groupements de communes sont régulièrement appréhendés et présentés comme la « bonne » échelle spatiale de coordination et de régulation de l’action publique sportive, reste que la capacité à la formater et à l’imposer aux autres constitue encore un enjeu considérable.
