Dans l’Antiquité, la magie représentait un moyen alternatif pour faire face aux réalités quotidiennes lorsque les méthodes traditionnelles (religion, médecine) ne fonctionnaient pas. Parmi ces réalités, nous retrouvons entre autres la maladie, qui était la cible des papyrus iatromagiques (médico-magiques). Or, certains de ces papyrus contenaient des références à des récits mythologiques, utilisés dans le cadre d’une magie sympathique, ou analogie persuasive. Par exemple, le fait d’inclure un récit mentionnant une guérison dans le papyrus magique avait pour but de produire un effet similaire chez le bénéficiaire. Cet article identifiera quelques études de cas de papyrus iatromagiques contenant des références à des récits mythologiques. Dans chaque cas, il identifiera quels types de récits étaient utilisés, mais surtout pourquoi et comment ils étaient utilisés.
