Abstract
Cet article présente les principales étapes du processus de laïcisation du système scolaire au Québec. Ce processus a marqué une rupture radicale avec une tradition de confessionnalité de l’éducation au Québec. Les caractéristiques de la laïcité québécoise sont présentées en montrant ses convergences et divergences avec le modèle français. Les changements structurels et juridiques introduits par la laïcité scolaire n’évacuent pas tous les points de tension, tels ceux concernant les contenus d’enseignement des religions ou le port des signes religieux à l’école.
