Le présent article fait l’exercice de repenser la question de l’itinérance, en proposant l’adoption d’un regard neuf, parce que féminin, sur le phénomène. Incarnée dans une recherche participative en cours – notamment son Comité de reconnaissance –, cette nouvelle perspective s’appuie simultanément sur la parole et les savoirs de femmes en situation d’itinérance, sur une épistémologie de la marge, des théories de la reconnaissance et d’autres féministes, critiques et intersectorielles. À l’inverse d’une logique individualiste centrée sur la gestion du risque, sont abordés les enjeux structurels et systémiques que vivent ces femmes, qui les invisibilisent socialement, les fragilisent, et qui se posent donc en obstacle à une vie décente. Par conséquent, l’avènement d’une réponse adaptée et adéquate, ancrée dans les droits de la personne, ne peut faire l’économie d’un renouvellement de la perspective à la fois du phénomène de l’itinérance et des personnes qui vivent de telles situations.
