Marie-Hélène Lafon, Pierre Jourde : deux auteurs rattachés par leur origine familiale au Cantal. Leurs oeuvres sont en partie consacrées à cette France rurale dont ils sont issus, mais la réception de celles-ci ne va pas de soi auprès des habitants du Cantal. Pierre Jourde a même été victime d’agressions. Si Lafon s’est heurtée à quelque hostilité, elle a pris grand soin par la suite de « brouiller les pistes » et jouit désormais d’une relative immunité. Nous examinons ici deux ouvrages, dont les titres se font écho à neuf ans d’intervalle : Pays perdu de Jourde (2003) et Les Pays de Lafon (2012). Il s’agit de déceler les raisons factuelles, biographiques expliquant la différence de réception, et de comparer les partis pris d’écriture ainsi que les imaginaires.
