L’analyse musicologique des musiques actuelles nécessite une approche adaptée prenant en compte l’importance des paramètres technologiques et performanciels inhérents à ces musiques, car le texte premier ne réside pas dans la partition mais dans l’enregistrement. Associée à cette méthode d’analyse, cet article propose un angle d’approche basé sur l’analyse des silences en s’appuyant sur des références philosophiques et herméneutiques ; ainsi qu’une utilisation de la phénoménologie d’un point de vue méthodologique, sur l’objet de la chanson Des Armes du groupe Noir Désir (Des visages des figures, 2001). Après une présentation des enjeux méthodologiques soulevés par les musiques actuelles dans cet article — les paramètres pertinents d’analyse et le faire-silence musical —, nous présenterons le groupe Noir Désir et le corpus. L’analyse tentera de découvrir quels sont les moyens mis en œuvre par ce groupe pour mettre en musique, interpréter et révéler l’idée du poème en prose de Léo Ferré.
