Abstract
Les Humanités n'ont eu de cesse de produire des modèles pour penser et interpréter le monde. Malgré cette constante, l'informatisation de leurs pratiques, de leurs méthodologies, voire de leurs concepts introduit une nouvelle forme de modélisation qui ne peut se passer d'une analyse épistémologique. L'introduction du calcul formel sur des objets d'étude échappant apparemment à toute formalisation impose en effet de questionner la pertinence des approches quantitatives telles qu'adoptées par les Humanités numériques. Ce texte est une exploration du modèle et de son rôle de médiation entre le monde et le chercheur. Le modèle est alors prétexte à réitèrer la dichotomie du calculable et du non calculable, du syntaxique et du sémantique, et finalement du statut ontologique de la connaissance.
