Abstract
À partir du récit d’une expérience de terrain en socio-anthropologie de la santé, cet article propose une réflexion sur la place, dans une recherche, de matériaux empiriques pouvant être perçus comme atypiques, par le chercheur et/ou par les acteurs de terrain. Alors qu’ils peuvent difficilement faire l’objet d’une montée en généralité, ils interpellent le chercheur et s’avèrent quelquefois indispensables pour la compréhension d’un phénomène. Dès lors, quel sort leur réserver dans la conduite de l’enquête et l’analyse des données ? L’article montre en quoi le particulier peut avoir une dimension heuristique, tout en s’interrogeant sur les solutions possibles pour intégrer de tels matériaux au sein d’une analyse à portée générale. L’objectif est d’interroger le rapport que les chercheurs entretiennent avec leur enquête, et de manière plus large, le rapport entre les chercheurs et le processus de production de savoirs en sciences sociales.
