Abstract
À la différence des États-Unis, l’année 2002 fut, dans les circonstances, une très bonne année. Beaucoup moins touchée par la récession que sa voisine, l’économie canadienne a connu une croissance vigoureuse, de 3,3 % selon les premières estimations. Et ce, malgré un certain ralentissement observé durant la seconde moitié de l’année. Plus étonnant encore, alors que le marché de l’emploi a été fort décevant aux États-Unis, le Canada enregistre l’une de ses meilleures années au plan de la création d’emplois. Les prévisionnistes s’attendent à ce que l’économie canadienne continue d’afficher de bons résultats en 2002, avec un taux de croissance entre 2,6 % et 3 %.
