\n"Cette œuvre majeure retrace l’histoire des multiples institutions judiciaires du Canada depuis 1496, en analysant d’abord l’historique de la magistrature de la Nouvelle-France, puis celle des diverses colonies britanniques de l’Amérique du Nord, pour en venir à examiner l’évolution du pouvoir judiciaire au Canada, tant au fédéral que dans les différentes provinces. Transcendant les époques, les juridictions et les tribunaux, l’auteur réussit à dresser un portrait global des institutions judiciaires canadiennes, dont l’évolution est habilement rendue. Cet ouvrage constitue donc un apport doctrinal important, tant par la qualité de sa rédaction, par la variété de ses sources, que par l’ambition du sujet traité [...]."
