En analysant deux spectacles différents, Angst II d’Anne Imhof et Les Métopes du Parthénon de Romeo Castellucci, cet article explore comment les notions de « théâtre » et « performance » se déploient et remettent en cause le cadre de la mimesis. En particulier, nous considérons que le théâtre performatif, en tant que revendication spécifique de la forme esthétique, peut être uniquement saisi comme un code artistique se situant au-delà du principe de l’imitation. Dès lors, nous souhaitons démontrer que ces deux performances, tout en étant basées sur une logique non mimétique, créent un univers théâtral cohérent dans sa communication avec les spectateurs.
