Dans cet article, il s’agit d’analyser la thématique du silence dans deux récits testimoniaux portant sur le tremblement de terre d’Haïti de 2010. Dans Tout bouge autour de moi de Dany Laferrière et dans Failles de Yannick Lahens, nous examinerons alors la représentation de quatre genres de silence : le silence de commisération, le silence imprononçable, le silence innommable et le silence inexprimable. Un des objectifs premiers de ce travail a pour but de montrer que dans certains cas, comme dans celui du trauma d’êtres humains à cause d’un séisme, le silence peut être parlant voire criant ; et que, par ailleurs, ce silence significatif se traduit par différents langages.
