Abstract
Tim Ingold dégage les lignes générales d’une anthropologie enracinée dans l’expérience sensible du parcours. L’esthétique y occupe une place importante, tandis que les paradigmes biologiques jouent à plein pour faire partir cette anthropologie en deçà de la coupure nature-culture. Il est possible d’interpréter son oeuvre comme un prolongement du programme d’une théorie de la culture définie par Ernst Cassirer et Aby Warburg comme anthropologie de l’homme en mouvement, en le nourrissant de nouveaux terrains ethnologiques et de nouvelles avancées en biologie. Ingold entrelace théorie du vivant et théorie de la culture. Cette articulation suppose de se centrer sur la dynamique de la transformation des figures, c’est-à-dire de renouveler l’approche morphologique. Pourquoi l’approche ethnologique d’oeuvres qui valent autant comme créations artistiques que comme documents culturels se trouve-t-elle occuper une place si décisive au sein de cette anthropologie ? Si on lie fortement phénoménologie et anthropologie, l’anthropologie de l’art devient décisive, car l’art joue un rôle révélateur des paradigmes à l’oeuvre pour mener à bien cette articulation. Et c’est sans doute à ce tournant esthétique que nous assistons actuellement en partie en anthropologie.
