Résumé Les regroupements de jeunes sont à la fois divers et changeants, au gré de leur composition du moment, des espaces fréquentés et des contextes auxquels ils sont soumis. L’urbanité des situations est donc relative à ces différents facteurs. Cependant, les tensions qui traversent les rassemblements semblent mettre à nu une « hospitalité de confrontation », mêlant promiscuité socio-spatiale et souci de différenciation. D’une part, ils reposent sur une « gestion permanente du conflit potentiel », gage de leur survie. D’autre part, les sociabilités qui s’y déploient reposent sur une « familiarité a priori » qui atténue le devoir de catégorisation propre aux relations urbaines. Enfin, ils fonctionnent de manière centrifuge, mettant en mouvement les jeunes qui les côtoient. Ces qualités semblent faire du rassemblement un « espace public pratique », mettant à l’épreuve les rapports de dépendance ou d’autonomie des liens sociaux par rapport aux lieux.
