Abstract
Cet article analyse les origines de l’historiographie de la Première Guerre mondiale des Canadiens anglais et des Canadiens français. Il fait valoir que chacune résulte d’un ensemble différent d’expériences liées à la Première Guerre mondiale. À ce sujet, aujourd’hui, au Canada, deux courants distincts coexistent, qui divergent selon que l’on se place du point de vue d’une littérature française ou anglaise, car chacune a fait émerger des récits différents qui ont façonné les travaux historiques ultérieurs. La mise en place de ces bornes nationales à l’historiographie canadienne souligne l’utilité de l’histoire transnationale au regard de la subdivision des identités nationales et de l’élargissement du contexte de l’histoire.
