Partant d’une enquête ethnographique réalisée durant le processus de contestation étudiante des années 2011 et 2012 à Santiago du Chili, cet article invite à s’interroger sur le rôle des émotions dans l’engagement et la radicalisation politique des jeunes issus de quartiers populaires. L’argument proposé indique que le passage vers des actions à risque dans un parcours d’engagement militant se trouve étroitement lié aux dynamiques émotionnelles qui se présentent chez chaque acteur. Nous souhaitons donc comprendre comment se construit et s’organise cette dynamique émotionnelle, la manière dont elle se déploie, disparaît ou se transforme au cours d’un processus de contestation.
