A Educacao Musical e a Educacao a Distância (EaD) sao duas areas amparadas por leis e necessarias a sociedade contemporânea porem ainda sao questionadas quanto a sua utilidade, viabilidade e funcionalidade. A EaD no Brasil tem se firmado como uma modalidade de ensino mais acessivel e democratica principalmente aqueles que desejam obter um diploma de graduacao. Os cursos de formacao inicial de professores tambem sao beneficiados com a expansao de ofertas de cursos a distância. Dessa forma os cursos de licenciatura em musica que buscam formar o educador musical para atuar, principalmente no Ensino Basico, tambem podem contar com a graduacao em Musica na modalidade a distância. Das IES publicas tres sao as que ofertam o curso de Musica e Educacao Musical a distância: UFRGS, UFSCar e UNB. Compreendendo que os cursos a distância nao sao cursos presenciais virtualizados objetivamos nesse artigo apresentar o trabalho realizado pelo tutor virtual nos cursos de licenciatura em Musica na modalidade a distância. Por meio de abordagem teorica o artigo apresenta algumas reflexoes que envolvem o trabalho dos diferentes atores envolvidos em um curso a distância e ressalta a funcao do tutor virtual como relevante para o bom desenvolvimento musical dos alunos.
