Cet article s’interroge sur la place qui est faite à l’émotion dans l’enseignement de la compréhension/interprétation en lecture. Recourant à des apports issus de la psychologie cognitive et de la critique littéraire, on cherchera à articuler les deux épistémologies au service de la didactique de la lecture et à inscrire cet article dans le courant dit théorique ou spéculatif de la recherche en didactique. Un album de littérature de jeunesse, L’Herbier des fées (Lacombe et Perez, 2011), dans sa version papier et numérique, servira de texte support à une analyse des discours multimodaux et aboutira à un constat : la nécessité d’inclure dans la formation, des enseignants et des élèves, des contenus qui visent à construire une sémiologie de l’image.
