Abstract
Alors qu’ils avaient quasiment disparu des grandes villes occidentales, les musiciens de rue font aujourd’hui de nouveau partie du paysage de ces villes. Notre hypothèse centrale est que ce renouveau, non seulement, reflète un changement en cours dans les usages, dans les modes de régulation et dans les conceptions de l’espace public, mais contribue en retour à renforcer le caractère public des espaces où il se déploie. En nous appuyant sur deux enquêtes menées à Paris, nous nous intéressons d’abord aux logiques spatiales de l’activité musicienne informelle et à la manière dont les musiciens tirent profit de l’hétérogénéité des espaces publics. Nous montrons ensuite comment les musiciens participent à la recomposition contemporaine de ces espaces, de manière éphémère en activant desspots, mais aussi, à plus long terme, en contribuant à l’émergence de microcentralités de divertissement qui se perpétuent dans le temps.
